Shopify is always evolving, with new features and updates rolling out regularly to help retailers stay ahead—but keeping up shouldn't be a chore. That's why this hub tracks every POS update and relevant Shopify changes in one place.
Every two weeks, Shopify releases an updated POS version and this post is refreshed to highlight what's new. If you have multiple retail locations, it's best practice to use an MDM (Mobile Device Management) to manage app versions, and to test each new release on a few devices before rolling it out to all stores.

Updated in POS version 11.6 and 11.7
Updates in POS version 11.7 (May 26, 2026 release date)
No new bells and whistles to announce this time. With version 11.7, we've focused on quietly tuning performance and refining the experience so your team can serve customers faster and with fewer interruptions.
Updates in POS version 11.6 (May 11, 2026 release date)
Print packing slips for inventory transfers

What changed: Staff can now print packing slips for outbound inventory transfers, allowing them to can include a document listing items in a shipment from one location to another. The packing slip uses the same basic format as order packing slips, but adapts it for transfers with details like where the shipment is sent from and sent to.
Why it matters: When you’re moving inventory across state lines, across borders, or between store locations, teams often need a clear printed record of what should be in the shipment. This gives staff and receiving locations a simple manifest to reference during handoff, helping reduce confusion about what was sent and what should arrive.
Access: Available in POS v11.6, but requires staff permissions to access. If you want staff to fulfill or receive inventory transfers in Shopify POS, the location must be on POS Pro, and the staff role needs the “Inventory” > “Manage transfers” permission.

Adjust inventory with "Set to" or "Adjust by" in Shopify admin

What changed: The manual inventory adjustment flow in Shopify admin now gives you two modes when you click a quantity to update: “Set to” and “Adjust by”. “Set to” lets you enter the total quantity you counted, while “Adjust by” lets you record the amount moving in or out by choosing a source and destination, like Inventory addition, Inventory removal, Available, Unavailable, or another location. You can switch between modes before saving, and your input carries over so you can check the outcome either way.
Why it matters: This matches the way inventory work actually happens in store and back office—whether you’re correcting a count after a cycle check, receiving new stock, writing off damaged items, or moving units between locations. Every adjustment now records the source, destination, who made the change, and when, which makes it easier to trace discrepancies, review history, and catch mistakes before they affect selling or reporting.
Access: Automatically available on May 7, 2026 in Shopify admin. No action required. This change applies to manual inventory adjustments in Shopify admin only and does not change the POS experience.
